CommonAlly was tasked with pioneering an approach to gain Gen Z's perspective on DEI topics. We leveraged our signature methodology and chatbot skip-logic technology to gather more than 8,200 data points from 500+ individuals.

The survey achieved a 57% completion rate, with a significant interest in DEI topics. More than 70% expressed interest in all queried subjects, especially the history of race post-1900 (86%).
A notable preference for in-person learning (56.7%) over virtual formats (11.7%), with a majority favoring learning from experts (73%).

This survey is limited by the small sample size and mostly white participants. While it is representative of a specific segment of Gen Z (white and educated), it is not representative of the whole Gen Z population in the United States.
Chatbot engagement offers a pathway to collect critical insights into Gen Z's engagement with and attitudes towards current trends, policies, and movements.
By understanding Gen Z preferences and feedback, educators and DEI advocates can tailor their approaches to meet the needs of this pivotal demographic.
